The hybrid Ford Mustang is expected to carry a gasoline electric propulsion system where the V8 engine can either be the existing 5.0-litre one coupled with a 10-speed automatic transmission or a turbocharged 4-cylinder EcoBoost one. The engine will feature various settings as part of the three drive modes. One of the salient features of the V8 engine to be used in the forthcoming hybrid Mustang would be its low end torque. The low end torque will be responsible for accelerating the vehicle from zero in double quick time. In developing such a powerful hybrid vehicle, Ford Mustang would lock horns with competitors such as McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder.
The hybrid Ford Mustang would not be a plug in car but generate electric power in the car itself to be stored in powerful batteries. By unveiling its plan to build a hybrid vehicle, Ford has taken a calculated risk given its connoisseurs’ – even those who buy used Ford Mustang cars, aversion to any changes in their favourite Ford Mustang. The idea behind developing such a hybrid car is to leverage the rising awareness among consumers for less polluting vehicles. Even though a hybrid Ford Mustang is not expected to provide an increased driving range of electric power the way plug-in hybrids do, it is likely to consume less gasoline and thus less polluting as compared to its non hybrid counterparts. In fact, in order to develop hybrid Ford Mustang and other electric cars, Ford is going to spend around $700 million at its Flat Rock plant thereby creating 700 jobs. While doing so, the company is set to cancel its plans in setting a plant in Mexico worth $1.6 billion. One more model that Ford is expected to roll out in the near future, that is by early 2018 is the Facelifted Ford Mustang – an attractive option for those who buy used Ford Mustang. This one will see some major changes in the exterior as well as interior besides incorporating a slew of advanced features. These features will mostly be in the infotainment user interface and safety departments. The exterior offered in three new colours will feature a more aggressive stance with a few vents and creases at the front, all LED lights in new looking clusters at the corners, and a muscular spoiler fitted atop the boot. Moreover, a brand new diffuser at the rear that aids in aerodynamics sits cosily between quad exhausts. The quad exhausts on their part are going to be fitted with active valve option to make them less polluting. To improve the drive quality even further, the upcoming model shall have better shock absorbers, stabilizer bars and Magneride adaptive dampers. The wheels in split five spoke or the existing multi spoke options would enhance the overall looks in addition to running at high revs.
