The hybrid Ford Mustang is expected to carry a gasoline electric propulsion system where the V8 engine can either be the existing 5.0-litre one coupled with a 10-speed automatic transmission or a turbocharged 4-cylinder EcoBoost one. The engine will feature various settings as part of the three drive modes. One of the salient features of the V8 engine to be used in the forthcoming hybrid Mustang would be its low end torque. The low end torque will be responsible for accelerating the vehicle from zero in double quick time. In developing such a powerful hybrid vehicle, Ford Mustang would lock horns with competitors such as McLaren P1 and Porsche 918 Spyder.
The hybrid Ford Mustang would not be a plug in car but generate electric power in the car itself to be stored in powerful batteries. By unveiling its plan to build a hybrid vehicle, Ford has taken a calculated risk given its connoisseurs’ – even those who buy used Ford Mustang cars, aversion to any changes in their favourite Ford Mustang. The idea behind developing such a hybrid car is to leverage the rising awareness among consumers for less polluting vehicles. Even though a hybrid Ford Mustang is not expected to provide an increased driving range of electric power the way plug-in hybrids do, it is likely to consume less gasoline and thus less polluting as compared to its non hybrid counterparts. In fact, in order to develop hybrid Ford Mustang and other electric cars, Ford is going to spend around $700 million at its Flat Rock plant thereby creating 700 jobs. While doing so, the company is set to cancel its plans in setting a plant in Mexico worth $1.6 billion. One more model that Ford is expected to roll out in the near future, that is by early 2018 is the Facelifted Ford Mustang – an attractive option for those who buy used Ford Mustang. This one will see some major changes in the exterior as well as interior besides incorporating a slew of advanced features. These features will mostly be in the infotainment user interface and safety departments. The exterior offered in three new colours will feature a more aggressive stance with a few vents and creases at the front, all LED lights in new looking clusters at the corners, and a muscular spoiler fitted atop the boot. Moreover, a brand new diffuser at the rear that aids in aerodynamics sits cosily between quad exhausts. The quad exhausts on their part are going to be fitted with active valve option to make them less polluting. To improve the drive quality even further, the upcoming model shall have better shock absorbers, stabilizer bars and Magneride adaptive dampers. The wheels in split five spoke or the existing multi spoke options would enhance the overall looks in addition to running at high revs.

The American automobile industry is known for churning out assembly line units since its inception. And among the brands that have captured the American dream is Ford or more specifically, the muscular race car, Ford Mustang. Named after the iconic P-51 Mustang fighter aircraft used in the Second World War, Ford Mustang has been developed as a concept car in the early sixties and had a chequered history. The luxury car brand has been a favourite with awards as it notched up trophies such as ‘Tiffanny Gold Medal for excellence’ in 1965, among others. Now in its sixth generation since 2013, the brand has brought about few changes in its models such as:
This iconic American brand has been a favourite with movies as well by being part of the Batman series, Bullitt, Diamonds Are Forever, and Gone in Sixty Seconds. In fact, those who even buy used Ford Mustang vouch for its terrific looks and menacing performance. As has been the tradition with every passing year seeing newer models, the coming years too shall see the unveiling of a chosen few models such as the Hybrid Mustang and Facelift Mustang. Given the depleting reserves of fossil fuels and their harmful effect in polluting the environment, a few automobile companies have ventured to develop prototypes of electric run vehicles. These vehicles will have an electric or traction motor capable of deriving electric power either from a battery stack or solar panels. Besides, a third kind of motor converts fuel to electricity as well. The automobile companies worth naming in the development of electric run vehicles are Chrysler, General Motors, Toyota, Honda, Nissan, not to mention the closer home ones like Mahindra and Tata Motors. Importantly, along with hybrid Mustang and F-150 the company intends to launch thirteen electric run vehicles in the next five odd years not specific to any country. Anticipated to be unveiled by 2020, the hybrid Mustang shall incorporate a dual power unit that would be capable of generating V8 power, in other words, offering great acceleration and payload towing capability. However, as downside, the V8 type of engines that are mostly used in trucks, is less fuel efficient and given the cramped space these are fitted into, will increase the repair costs as mechanics would not find enough space to operate. |
